Impairedgas exchange in presence of pulmonary embolus is one of the leadingnursing diagnoses that can be used on patient . That isdue to its ability to prevent tissue perfusion and blood clots fromthe lungs to the leg. It also facilitates the effective supply ofblood and oxygen throughout the body. Anticoagulant tablets are thekey medical treatment for such a patient. It is due to their abilityto prevent blood clots within the body of an individual, byincreasing the time taken by the blood clots to form in the body(WebMD,2015).Similarly, it should be noted that being a medical treatment, theanticoagulation tablets limits the continuous growth and developmentof blood clots within the body. Some of the nursing considerationsfor this particular diagnosis include mobilizing the patient (bedrest) to prevent clot dislodgment, providing them with warmcompresses to help reduce the swelling and assessing them forcomplications of PE such as apprehension, hemoptysis and diaphoresis.

Thenon-pharmacological measures that can be used to the relief of thisparticular patient include music therapy, distraction, simplemassages and family presence facilitation (Esicm, 2016). Importantly,it should be noted that these measures were considered ideal due toits ability to provide patients with both emotional and physicalsatisfaction. For example, music therapy and distraction help to calmand support an individual’s mental or emotional wellbeing. Itsupports and improves an individual’s cognitive behavior. Simplemassage helps to support the physical growth and development ofindividuals. Through this, an individual’s self-esteem andconfidence is enhanced within the society.

Duringthe nursing assessment of peripheral vascular, the following factorsneed to be taken into consideration size, symmetry, shape, skincolor, temperature, numbness and blood flow (Homesteadschools, 2016).These factors help to enhance the medical practitioner’s fullexamination or physical assessment of patients with peripheralvascular. These components provide them with the opportunity toidentify key treatment approaches.
