ProfessionalGoals and Self-assessment

Ibelieve that every clinical practitioner is guided by the innatedesire to help this ailing society. Thus, the syllabus and clinicalpractice are developed in a way that nurses can apply and gauge theirtheoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills in the field.Consequently, I have aligned my professional goals with the ultimatedesire to help my society by providing quality services and beingcompetent in my field through career growth, development, and othertraining programs.

Asnurses, we meet patients with various problems in our practice.According to our training, we are supposed to make our patientscomfortable during their treatment (Robinson,2014).Thus, when patients are in pain, I do anything I can to help themcope up with the situation through administering painkillers andsedatives to help them relax. Also, I help patients cope up withtheir trying moments, especially when they are waiting to go throughan operation.

Takingcare of patients is a holistic approach which involves physical andemotional care(Robinson, 2014).So as a nurse, I soothe patients in the best way possible and makethem comfortable when they are receiving treatment. Also, I haveequipped myself with knowledge on how to deal with hospitalelectronic systems and equipment. Furthermore, I have learnedleadership and interpersonal skills which enable me to talk withcolleagues and patients professionally. Moreover, I have learned howto balance the emotional and physical stress in my practice.

So,when I look at my personal goals, what I want to achieve and thetraining we keep receiving I realize that I am on the right track inpracticing clinical skills that will enable me to grow professionallyin my career(Engelmann, 2016).
